CCOC Loves the Ottawa Tool Library

For years, CCOC folk have been saying “wouldn’t it be great if someone would set up a tool library in Ottawa”.
Downtown residents in century homes and urban apartments lack the garage or basement workshop space of our suburban neighbours. And it doesn’t make sense to buy a particular tool for one job that you may never need again. Sharing works perfectly for books – why not tools!
So we’re really excited that a group of volunteers has recently started the Ottawa Tool Library (OTL).
The OTL plans to offer four categories of tools: Hand Tools / Power Tools / Garden Tools and Kitchen Tools. And for those who need a little help, the OTL will offer workshops and classes for all skill levels, and plans to offer open make space where you can work alongside other makers, artists, builders or hobbyists and see your imagination come to life.
The Ottawa Tool Library has just completed a successful Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign, raising over $15,000 in less than one month. We can’t wait to see what they do next!
