Locks/Keys/Clickers/Fobs
🔑 You can come into the CCOC office, located at 415 Gilmour St, Suite 200 during business hours and we can get you a new key, fob, or clicker.

The cost is:
– Unit/mailbox keys – $5
– Primus keys/Fobs – $20

If your current key/clicker is not working, we will replace it for free as long as you provide the original.

Which lock do you want changed?
Lock changes are $95 during business hours. Do you accept the charge?
Plumbing
🚽 Try plunging the toilet if it won’t flush.

Paper towels, hair, wipes, menstrual products, and grease can block your drains. Put these in the trash, not the toilet!

Hot water, vinegar, and/or baking soda can clear a sink drain.

You may be charged the following fees to repair a toilet or drain that is blocked:

– $85.00 during business hours
– $125.00 after hours
Do you accept potential Chargeback?
💧 Learn where the shut-off valves are so you can turn off the water if there is a leak.

Most plumbing fixtures and hot water tanks have a shut-off valve on the supply pipe.

Many apartments also have a valve that will shut off water for the whole home.

A blocked aerator on your tap may cause low water pressure.

An aerator is a small circular spray head in the tap.

Try unscrewing and cleaning the aerator.
Where is Plumbing Problem
Heating/Cooling/Fans (hood fan and bathroom)
Electrical (outlets/light switches/light bulbs/fuses/electrical panel)
⚡ If part of your home is without electricity, a GFCI outlet may have tripped.

GFCI outlets are usually found in kitchens and bathrooms, and have a test and reset button. Try pressing the reset button.

A tripped breaker or blown fuse can cause a partial power outage. This can happen when too many appliances are running on the same circuit. Check your electrical panel to see if a breaker switch is in the “OFF” position. Breakers can be reset by pushing the switch to the “OFF” position, and then back to the “ON” position. If your electrical panel uses glass fuses, look for one with dark discolouration and replace it.

If no part of your home has power, contact Hydro Ottawa 613-738-0188.

There may be power outages in your neighbourhood.
While CCOC is responsible for most repairs to a rental unit, tenants are responsible for minor repairs, like changing a light bulb.

Please note that all redecorating requests submitted before March 31st are reviewed in April of each year. Anything received after March 31st will be considered in the following year. Garbage/e-waste/bulk pick up
🚫 Please don’t leave items in the lobby or laundry rooms! If you have something in good condition, donate it to a charity or use a local Buy Nothing group.

If it has to be thrown out, large items can be collected by the City. If you live in an apartment building, you will need to call 3-1-1 to arrange the pickup. If you live in a townhouse, items can be left on the curb after 6 pm the night before garbage collection.

To ensure safe handling, please consult our pest control employees before disposing of any pest infested materials.
♻️ Old TVs, computers, and monitors can’t be left in the garbage bin or at the curb. They contain toxic materials and need to be disposed of properly. The same goes for hazardous materials like batteries, propane tanks, and CFL bulbs.

CCOC has blue disposal cubbies in larger buildings for this waste. If your building doesn’t have these cubbies, visit the City’s Hazardous Waste page for more information.

Contact the Service Desk for a recycling bag or kitchen compost bin. To order a black, blue, or green bin, call the City at 3-1-1.

CCOC acknowledges that the land where we create and maintain affordable housing is the traditional, unsurrendered, and unceded Algonquin territory of the Anishinaabe people. We’re grateful for their generations of stewardship and continued presence. We also acknowledge the disproportionate impact of the housing emergency on Indigenous people. Acknowledging Indigenous people and the harm done to them through colonization and racism is only a first step. CCOC is part of this history, and we have so much more work to do.
