CCOC acknowledges that the land where we create and maintain affordable housing is the traditional, unsurrendered, and unceded Algonquin territory of the Anishinaabe people. We’re grateful for their generations of stewardship and continued presence. We also acknowledge the disproportionate impact of the housing emergency on Indigenous people. Acknowledging Indigenous people and the harm done to them through colonization and racism is only a first step. CCOC is part of this history, and we have so much more work to do.
