Applying for Housing

CCOC charges two types of rental rates, some of our tenants pay market rent and the others pay rent geared to income. The application processes for each is different:

Market Rent

Some of our tenants pay a level of rent that is based on our expected costs and the general rent levels for similar accommodation in the private market. This is called market rent. Tenants paying market rent pay about the same amount as they would for a similar unit on the private market.

If you want to apply for an apartment at market rent, first browse our current vacancies and then contact our .

Rent Geared to Income

In most CCOC buildings, between 40 and 60 percent of tenants pay rent adjusted to their income. Rent geared to income is fixed at a percentage of the tenants family income, usually around 30 percent. Tenants paying rent geared to income pay much less that they would in the private market. CCOC’s ability to offer rent geared to income is limited by the availability of funds.

If you want to pay rent geared to income you must apply separately to the Ottawa Social Housing Registry. The Registry is the centralized waiting list for all subsidized housing in Ottawa, contact them for more information:
