Centretown Citizens Ottawa Corporation (CCOC) is a community-based, tenant and member directed, non-profit housing organization. Our mission is to create, maintain and promote housing for low and moderate income people.

CCOC owns and operates a variety of properties in the City of Ottawa that provide housing to over 2000 residents. We charge a wide range of rents, with some tenants paying rent geared to their income, and other tenants paying market level rents.

From modest beginnings in 1974, CCOC has grown into one of the largest private non-profit housing corporations in Canada. We continue to be run by dedicated volunteers who believe in the basic idea that everyone should have control over their housing.

Board & Committees

CCOC is directed and controlled by volunteers. Our organization is structured into six committees and departments overseen by the Board of Directors. Members of the Board and it’s committees are all volunteers, some are tenants of CCOC, some are community members.

CCOC Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is responsible for all CCOC activities. There are 14 members of the Board, each is elected by the CCOC membership for a two year term. All of our volunteer committees report to the Board of Directors. Each committee provides background information on their department and recommendations to the Board.

Volunteer committees are listed below with the department they direct:

  • Development

The Development Committee deals with the development, acquisition and financing of new properties. They are the creative bunch who look for clever ways to create new housing.

The Development Department works to acquire and build new CCOC properties. They also keep a close eye on regulations and city planning to make sure CCOC can continue to grow and offer new affordable housing.

The M & C Department works to develop and maintain healthy communities for tenants and in our neighbourhoods on issues such as community safety, recycling, energy conservation and gardening.

CCOC Maintenance staff oversee landscapers, painters, plumbers and other contractors, do most of the repairs in or around the buildings including in your unit, and keep the common areas of the buildings clean.
